Excelsior OWL Partners with SUNY to Promote Writing Across the Curriculum with Grant Award
The Excelsior OWL and three SUNY colleges—Rockland, Clinton, and Monroe Community Colleges—have received a SUNY Innovative Instruction Transformation Grant (IITG) to advance Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC).
The two-year project involves partnering to develop a series of open education training webinars on WAC topics that will be used to train a total of 50 faculty across the four participating colleges. Faculty training will begin in Fall 2018 with the first cohort of 25 participants and continue in Spring 2019 with the second cohort of 25 participants. In the semester following each training session, participants will teach a course revised with WAC principles and researchers will assess the impact on learning. All training materials, including sample syllabi and assignments, will be made available on the Excelsior OWL as a free educator resource for professional development in WAC.
Excelsior will contribute at least a dozen participants to the training program. These participants can consist of instructors, course developers, course designers, and FPDs. If you are interested in participating, please contact the OWL Director, Francesco Crocco, at fcrocco@excelsior.edu.
