Marginalia are words that you write in the margins of a text as you read. Marginalia can include paraphrases of important ideas, questions or comments, key words, definitions of new terms, or notes about sources to look up.

The questions in the activity below let you practice adding marginalia to a journal article by dragging and dropping the correct answer into the margin next to the passage.
