When making an in-text citation for a source with only one author, list the last name of the author (without their initials), followed by a comma, and then the year of publication. When referring to the author(s) directly in the text (also called a narrative citation), list only the year (and page number, if needed for a direct quote).
This formatting holds true regardless of medium. Novels, newspaper articles, websites — if the source has a single author, this is the proper format for an in-text citation.
