A citation is a reference to a particular piece of information that you use in your paper. Every citation must include certain information, depending on the source of the information.
NOTE: You must always include all the sources that you have cited in the list of references at the end of your paper.
You will need to know which style your instructor wants you to use.
No matter which style you use, you should use it consistently. Don’t mix the styles in one paper!
Examples for many types of citations are given in the APA, MLA, and Chicago Style sections within the Citation & Documentation area of the Excelsior OWL.
